Released in 2003, Castlevania: Lament of Innocence marked the series' debut on the PlayStation 2 and served as the origin story for the legendary Belmont clan. Developed and published by Konami, it introduced fully 3D exploration while retaining the gothic atmosphere, haunting soundtrack and challenging combat that defined the franchise. Although it lived in the shadow of major PlayStation 2 releases of the era, it has since earned a loyal following among Castlevania fans. Complete Australian PAL copies remain a desirable addition for collectors of the series.
